Scientists Not So Sure 'Doomsday Machine' Won't Destroy World
Heres the latest news on the LHC which gets turned back on this summer.
Three physicists have reexamined the math surrounding the creation of microscopic black holes in the Switzerland-based LHC, the world's largest particle collider, and determined that they won't simply evaporate in a millisecond as had previously been predicted.
A poll of students asking what discoveries they think will be made when the LHC finally working, is broken down in this pie chart. World being destroyed certainly comes into "unexpected"🙂

Your "news" link refers to the LHC as a doomsday machine . . .
Also it doesn't seem to have the picture you provided or information about what any of the slices mean or what other possibilities there are for "unexpected". Really it's a comical failure of a post.

I think only 25% for Unexpected is naive. I'd sooner say closer to 50% -- in terms of new discoveries, not world-destruction. I mean, look what happens whenever we send probes to the outer solar system: we seem to make far more discoveries and raise far more questions than find answers.
