In the coming months the most complex scientific instrument ever built will be switched on. .[B]The Large Hadron Collider promises to recreate the conditions right after the Big Bang.

Some scientists believe there is the slight chance of a black hole or "stranglets" being created causing catastrophe of epic proportions, mabye destroying the planet!!

Why not. The rewards might be monumental. Might even discover the God Particle.

Hence why science fails.

'THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES IF WE'RE RIGHT!"

You have it backwards. That's why science succedes. Who dares wins.

"He who dares wins..."

Hitler dared...he lost.

Oh, how can science win? What is it winning against? What determines a win? Who is science anyway?

He had a pretty good run.

Not doing anything and letting the Africans dying in the millions via AIDS waste away?

🙂

AT least then we'd be safe from the T-Virus.

Or Jurassic Park. 😐

Did he win?

Surely he would have prefferd that "Reich which will last 1000 years"?

Walking on the moon. Medical breakthrough's etc. Sorry G.M.G, but even science failing is a win. It's all about progress. Having a computers nice isn't it? Give thanks to science and those who dared. 😉

Walking on the moon. Medical breakthrough's...

Bombs capible of wiping out thousands of lives in a matter of minutes, then irradiating the soil and continuing to kill people for years, possibly eradicating all life on the planet due to some jerk-off forgetting to carry the four in his "How to create a black hole" formula...

Even when it's failing it's still winning. 🙂

I ask again.

Who is this "science" who represents it?
Is it a being that is winning?
Is it a culture?

What is science?

I think there's a difference between comparing the ideals of a tyrant as opposed to the advancement of scientific research.

Science is the study of how our physical world works 😐
You could also think of it as a train of though that often results in the advancement of technology.

So..why did he insist on referring to it as if it was some sort of nation or organisation? You see...last time I checked, the world of scientists was anything but unified enough to be considered unified...

Science is man. It represents us and paves our way to the future. If you think it fails try and leave it behind. 😉

I don't recall saying it failed...

However, if "science is man" then surely it is as divided, self-serving and finite as man?
