Well the purpose of this thread is to express disgust and outrage over this movie's fans. And while there are certain members of this forum that won't believe it to be true, I've really got no desire to irritate people.

i decided to test how rabid TDK fans that i knew personally were by announcing on one of my social networking profiles "the dark knight blows goats" and seeing what response i got....i got 9 replies from people saying "no it doesn't it's ****ing great...blah blah blah"...the irony being that only 2 of those 9 had actually seen it

Well, as far above it all as you are, you still had to expect some sort of dispute since you decided to post a thread on the subjecct you did at the time you did it.
I think, with the lack of good movies so far this year, TDK has a lot of people excited because it is one of the very few quality movies to have been released in 2008. I really enjoyed it and while I wouldn't call it the greatest movie ever, I was thinking after I saw it "finally, a good movie," after seeing so many shitty ones this year.
Add to that the death of Heath Ledger/his hyped up portrayal of the Joker, the intense viral marketing, and the fact that Batman Begins had a decently large following and I'd say it's pretty easy to see why there are so many fans of the movie right now.
So to answer your question, "Are The Dark Knight fans becoming really really annoying?" I would have to say "no." I mean seriously, the way people are responding to this movie is nothing compared to the fanboys of so many other things out there who've been annoying as hell for a much longer period of time.
I think this movie deserves the recognition and response it has recieved. Of course there will be annoying fans, but overall, I just say let it be.
