He is the closest iteration of Professor Hulk in the MCU. But for some reason the directors are calling him "Smart Hulk", so I guess they are going to bring him later on.
Who cares? The MCU has been doing their own spin on characters since early on, what is clear is that EG Hulk is a direct shout-out to the comic's Professor/Smart Hulk.
They even threw in the tanktop scene as a direct service to the comic fans:

You do notice how Professor Hulk isn't afraid of using violence, yet "Smart Hulk" is clearly reluctant to even smash a motor cycle?
If it helps of consolation, he isn't the full version of Professor Hulk.
Being smart is the biggest trait he shares with Professor Hulk.

Did you not notice that EG Hulk was smashing Thanos's troops? How did you miss this?
It's beyond clear that Professor Hulk was also the inspiration for EG Hulk, The MCU does these spins on comic characters. If you won't accept your own eyes and logic, accept the directors' commentary:
"Joe Russo noted that in the aftermath of Thanos' death and the destruction of the Infinity Stones, Banner and Hulk finally came to a compromise. As a result, they're now merged into one as Professor Hulk, a significant moment of personal growth and reconciliation between the two." -snip
You're done here Josh, log out and really think about your life and the choices you've made.

😂
He was, yet he wasn't nearly as ferocious as Professor Hulk! How could you miss that?
OMG! So, CBR's opinion is now the directors?
You realize that the Russo's never called him Professor Hulk right?
Nice attempt at trying to cheat on The Tribunal, Rob, but such a tricks won't work.

It's an interview with the Russo's and the Russo's are saying "Professor Hulk", not some CBR writer...
Are you really this stupid?
EG Hulk from what is seen and said looks to be a direct spin of the Professor Hulk, or the fourth personality of the Merged Hulk, even if 'Smart Hulk' is eerily similar.
The Russo's might not have known about the later when writing the character, or maybe they did and it also played an aspect in their version.

OMG! You don't even know what you are reading! 😂
Here:

The Russo's DIDN'T mentioned the words "Professor Hulk". There's clearly a period between what CBR says that the Russo's said, and the rest of THEIR note.
Besides, CBR isn't quoting the Russo's, they are giving their interpretation of what the Russo's said.
Anyone who has read the comics knows that Endgame Hulk doesn't share the same traits as Professor Hulk besides being smart.
The Professor Hulk was also a butt-kicking, gun-toting, complete bada--, nothing at all and not what Mark Ruffalo portrayed in the movie (the CGI was awful, too!).

I'm not the only one to share this idea. He is Smart Hulk, as the directors called him.

You can call him Professor Hulk all you want. Just stop pretending that the directors called him like that.
