Hello, ladies and gentlemen. It has been far too long since I last graced these halls (About 5 months, blame my sickness. But I'm still alive, and have recovered a little bit)I see much as not changed in the fighting pits down here, lol. Quan is still Quan (And I love ya for it), Eon is.... New to me? (Hello there) Josh has poked all the bears (Wisdom, for where art thou?) Robbo is trying to be the voice of reason (Because Robbo is secretly Malthael, Lol) Broly the ever increasing hateboner just couldn't resist sticking it in where it didn't need to be stuck (Mate, I love ya, but you gotta keep it in this particular arena (Thread)), and of course, Impediment finally loses enough patience to finally ban someone temporarily (Because even Saints have a limit, lol.)
So, is that bout accurate so far?
And Josh, I hate to say it, but yeah... You poked the bears, and they are gonna make you pay for it. I've had my fights with both Quan, and Broly. I've said this before, and I'll say it again, Quan is most easily dealt with, when you can have fun with him, rather than at him. Take the piss and vinegar out of it. Have a joke. Laugh. Do something other than rile everything up... For gods sake, it's not serious enough to warrant pissing on everyone's corpse just to have a win is it?
Now with TI, I admit, I DID report him a few times, when he took it way too far and got extremely personal. That was a long time ago, and we moved on from that. I don't consider him a bad person, just one that is very easily agitated by perceived slights, even when they are not intended. But like Quan, if you can have a laugh with him, if you can show that this place is meant for laughter, and not yelling like howler monkeys, I can guarantee you'll find almost everyone in this place more agreeable.
As for debating in general, here's a few tips. For me, I state what I believe is the truth of the matter, and why I believe it. I'll explain my position to those who ask, and I'll listen to the points of view of others. I won't fight with those determined to have the last say, as that serves no purpose to me or the debate. In the end, my argument will stand on it's own merrits, or it won't. It doesn't matter to me. I don't have a vain ego so huge as that I can't admit to being wrong, after all - I am a human being, and as a human, I can be mistaken. But I learn, and move on as I do. This is how I believe a Debate is, it's a learning experience. Win or lose, there's always something more to take from it.
