by making a film pg-13, producers increase their target audience, since 15% of frequent moviegoers are ages 11-17. that's why realism has been replaced by bloodless severings and off-camera gore.i understand their motive when making comic book movies since it would be completely foolish to exclude young teens from that genre. however i'm certainly not interesting in seeing vlad the bloodless family-friendly impaler.

Above all, it is about making money. If PG-13 was eliminated and the current PG-13 movies lumped into the R-rating (where parents should be strongly cautioned in letting their children see the movie if they are under 17), then we have a winner.
No more PG-13 movies, please. If you want to make an adult film but absurdly tone down the violence, sex, nudity, and language, have at it! You'll still get an R-rating and you don't have to worry about censoring some scenes just to fly right under the R-Rating.
I would really be curious as to what Backfire thinks about this. He is more familiar (and I believe he even directly worked with, at some point( the film industry practices. I am positive many directors do not like the PG-13 rating or what it has become.
