Well I didn't realise Kilmer wrote the script, including the lines he had to say. 🙄

He played the part as it should have been, the character is an emotionally drained and sad individual who had to witness his parents being murdered, what do you want? When people experience bad things like trauma they put on 'masks' to hide their emotions- to not be seen as weak. Bale does it as well but his character seems to be enjoying being Batman too much. That is wrong.

His sissy-boy look? do you want Bruce Wayne to look like a mountain of muscle with scars running across his face or something? Thats the idea of a secret identity, not that ANY Batman film can keep that a secret anyway.

Actually Bruce Wayne fakes being social though. Batman is his real persona Bruce Wayne's a mask and so he acts the rich socialite part. I think that's one thing the old franchise got wrong as a whole though I do think it added to the overall mystique of Batman in the Burton films but it didn't really get the Bruce Wayne stuff right.

The Schumacher films got none of it right IMO.

god I cant believe this is STILL going on.Yeah Kilmer as Batman had a lot of flat lifeless acting. He was a good bruce wayne but bad Batman.Keaton was flat and lifeless and Bruce wayne. He was a horrible Bruce Wayne but a good Batman.Bale on the other hand, was mazing as BOTH Bruce wayne AND Batman.Bale is the one and only true Bruce wayne/batman to play the role so far.

He wasn't even a good Bruce Wayne. He was flat and lifeless. I didn't believe he had gone through a traumatic loss of his parents, that he gave a damn about a boy (Robin obviously) losing his parents like him, or that he wanted to screw Chase Meridian. I didn't believe he even wanted to be in the film he was so dead...and the movie sucked so bad I can't say I blame him.

I'm with you on Rachel Dawes as well Kovacs. Can't stand her think she is the worst love interest Batman has had other than Chase Meridian (who stank big time and was a weirdo who had a fetish for Batman that was not healthy at all and needed her own therapy) But she was clearly a key part of Batman's life. I think the movie would have lost some of it's emotionality without her.

I can't wait to see the posts many years down the line when someone else decides to re-invent the Batman movies... just watch the very same people who applaud the likes of Bale and Nolan dump on them as soon as someone else comes along.

I guess in the end we all agree to disagree.

Can't speak for everyone else, but I'll never do that.

you just had to go and bring this back again didnt you? No I dont think that will happen in the future when they invent the Batman movies again cause till Bale and Nolan came along, the sad truth of the whole matter is the other Batman movies were a disgrace to the name of Batman and the character Bruce Wayne and Bale is the one and only true Bruce wayne/Batman to have played the role so far.Because of that, I for sure wont be be dumping on Bale and Nolan.I seriously doubt the other Bale and Nolan fans will either.Count me in with that group of people as well of "Me neither" also.

No, that post was meant to end it (at least from my end). All the posts after mine are continuing the issue, even yours, so you shouldn't have anything to say about what I post.

I'm not saying Bale because he's the new guy. I just think he brings more to the table, he makes an obvious separation between Bruce and the bat.

well its just that this topic has been done to death so many times over the years that I just wish this thread would die.The thread was beginning to die but you resurrected it to the top again. If it had been a different topic I wouldnt have said nothing but like I said, this topic has been done to death so many times over the years here in this section that I just with this thread would die.Im sure when the next Batman movie comes out in a couple years, there will be another one of these threads started again.it never ends.grrrrr.

Well I'm not the poster who has resurrected this topic in the Movie Discussion forum and yet I didn't see your post having a go at him. In fact you are continuing this discussion 'you hate so much' in the very forum I've just mentioned.

The topic itself will keep on going because I feel it is highly unlikely that Bale will be the last actor to portray Batman so everyone is going to want to voice their opinion to what comes next (especially new members to the forum).

well in the movie discussion section you get to hear peoples opinions posted that otherwise you wouldnt get to hear.Like I saw two long time members here post their thoughts there that I had never seen post their thoughts of in the Batman section before.

The Batman section, you only get to hear the die hards fans opinions most the time and its usually the same ones, where like I said,in the movie discussion section, you get to hear people post who arent die hards and arent the same people.Thats why I posted there that I was glad to see that thread was allowed to stay there in the movie discussion section was because of that.Oh well,no biggie.as long as some newbies come on and start posting.

Agreed

Bale brought a new level of depth to the character (specifically Bruce) that none of the others did. Plus, he's much more believable as a rich flamboyant and arrogant type than the others.

Keaton's Batman is the best for me...

Bale is at the bottom of my list.....to me he looks nothing like batman..and his portrayal of batman is horrible...his bruce is ok...but he comes off flat
