Ah but that was the outcome of the fight.
When the "to get slaughtered" came up, was this a reference to the intention of the leader or the outcome of their leading into battle????
e.g. Leonidas didn't intentionally lead his men to get slaughtered, but he did lead his men to get slaughtered as it was the outcome of the fight.
I think Cyclops and Superman are great leaders. There's are reason why they've lead their teams for so long. They represent everything that's good in the world. Superman is willing to sacrifice himself for humanity, although half the world dislikes him. And Cyclops was chosen by Xavier for a reason. He saw the potential and good in Cyclops, that others do not have. Furthermore, they are admired by many, including their colleague's.
