Vinyan

The guy who directed the French backwoods horror flick, Calvarie, has another horror film coming out about ghosts which looks good and I'm going to watch it for sure.

A couple are looking for their child who was lost in the tsunami - their search takes them to the dangerous Thai-Burmese waters, and then into the jungle, where they face unknown but horrifying dangers.

It's not ghosts is it? just the parents looking for their child, about child trafficking, tribes, trying to get out of there and so on.

Nah Vinyan is Thai for Ghost and I'm pretty sure its about dead kids.

More detail:

Unable to accept the the loss of their son in the 2005 Tsunami, Jeanne and Paul Bellmer have remained in Phuket. Desperately clinging to the fact that his body was never recovered, Jeanne has convinced herself that the boy was kidnapped by traffickers in the chaos that followed the catastrophe… that her son is still alive. Paul is sceptical, but cannot bring himself to shatter his wife’s last hope. Bribing the sinister Mr Gao to take them by boat to the pirate-infested jungles of the Thai/Burmese border, the traumatized couple embark on a quest that will plunge them through paranoia and betrayal, ever deeper into an alien universe, a supernatural realm where the dead are never truly dead, and where nightmares, obsession and horrifying reality converge.

"a supernatural realm where the dead are never truly dead"

Sounds like a ghost film to me. Just might be a different take on the sub genre.

Sounds similar in theme to Dont Look Now.

Can watch the first few minutes of the film here.

I'd rather watch the whole thing at once. I don't know why they bother putting the first 5 mins and clips of films on the net, a trailer is enough untill you can watch the full film in my opinion.

Because some people like to check it out. It's only a few minutes usually, not spoiling much for most times.

Knock yourself out then. I'm waiting for the full film.

I don't bother actually, just other people might.

Good stuff. I try not to spoil any of the film, a trailer ties me over till the film comes out.

Certain scenes remind me of Lord of the Flies.

The director has said in interviews that his main inspiration for the film was Who Can Kill A Child and he wanted to do a remake of it but it is already getting a remake. So he really wanted to make a film about evil kids.

I can see the Lord of the Flies influence too. It should be a great film, Calvaire was cool.
