and i suppose being a fan of the character also helps which i remember reading Jon Faveau is.

You forgot Jarvis! 😛

Well he was there but in robot form.

Can't wait for this movie to come out. Wish they hadn't messed with the costumes of Red Mist and Big Daddy. The changes for Kick-Ass and Hit Girl, I can easily look past.

What I've seen so far just looks ****ing awesome.

I'm a little pissed this is going mainstream. They totally stole my idea:

Except these guys aren't professionally trained. Kick-Ass gets his ass kicked a lot in the comics.

Still, it's that the idea is out there. Various articles, blogs, fluff news pieces, etc. will come out asking if a real-life superhero is possible. A few might even go deep enough to uncover those that actually do already exist (there's at least a few dozen confirmed costumed heroes in the US that perform some sort of civic duty, for example).

...so basically what it means is that I'll be a freakish poser instead of a visionsary when I finally decide to shed my normal life for one of crime fighting.

🤓

Except you have proof that you asked about real life super heroes back in 2005. awesome

Well, I think Mark Millar was exploring this idea early, in the early parts of Ultimates 2 when Hank Pym joins the Defenders, who were non-powered amateurs trying to get famous in that universe. Nighthawk gets beated up badly the first mission, like Kick-Ass does.

But never mind that. I have to give the young 19 year old Aaron Johnson mad props for impregnating a woman almost 23 years older that he is! 😱
His director on a previous film, Sam Taylor Wood (looks quite the cougar to me. 😉 )

I'm really looking forward to this movie. Only a few days away. The reviews on rotten tomatoes make it look like the only people who don't like the movie are those that say its too violent.

Fantastic 🙂

Omg I can't wait! It opens here tomorrow at 10pm at my favorite theatre but all my friends are busy with work and stuff and we already made plans to see it all together friday after they get outta work. 😠

If anyone gets a heads up and sees it before us please post and let me know if its half as good as all the promo hype is making it out to be. I'm still really worried about Nic Cage's Big Daddy as I've said over and over but otherwise feel this should be a really great movie and wanna see some kind of reliable confirmation that my thoughts are correct.

Saw this last night, really enjoyed it.

Any complaints? I'm going in jus a few hours after all my friends arrive. I talked to a friend that had gotten a bootleg copy and he really loved it but based on what he said about it my fears of Big Daddy and Kick-Ass's love interest were confirmed. Still trying to keep an open mind and attempt to judge for itself and not jus for all it varies from the comic.

Being such a hard core comic fan its very hard for me not to be overly critical of any comic movie that varies much from the comic. I did very much enjoy Wanted and it varied majorly form the comic series

You've probably seen it by now, but I'll post some of my thoughts anyway. First off, it's way better than Wanted, which I actually enjoyed, despite it straying WAY far away from the comic and it getting dissed by people. I haven't read Kick-Ass, but it felt very faithful to what I imagine the source material is like, and fans of the book have backed me up on that.

Some complaints - the movie felt like it didn't really know what it wanted to be/do. There were several distinct, (to me) conflicting tones and vibes. At times it was very realistic, portraying believable consequences to the characters' actions, etc., while at the same time there were many over-the-top, extremely unbelievable scenes and set-pieces. I kind of wish the film stuck with one style, or at least blended the several that were in the film more effectively.

I didn't like how they re-used John Murphy's music in this film, because I distinctly associate it with the movies it originally came from (28 Days Later and Sunshine). Mark Strong did a good job, but his character wasn't all that compelling of a villain. The "love story," if you want to call it that, was kind of weak.

There are probably some others, but those were the main things that bugged me. Overall, I really liked this movie. It's not quite as good as all the geek/fanboy hype that's been going around, but definitely worth your time imo. I had a lot of fun with it and when the movie clicked for me, it was was really great.

Lots of action/violence, memorable characters and moments and at times a subsersive take on the superhero mythos.

8/10

Oh, and two words - Hit Girl. She was the best part of this movie.

yea i gave in an 8 also. i disliked some of the thigns they decided to change but over all its cool.

Hit Girl was totally ****ing accurate and ****ing awesome!
Kick-Ass himself was okay and fairly acceptable as accurate.

Otherwise I was not amused by the movie, till the end had some awesomeness but also by then it was probably because I'd jus given up on the movie being very faithful to the comic.

It started off fairly accurate and going in a good direction but jus started to randomly take different directions on realism, then comedic to full on action to jus total bullshited candy coated teen love story n comedic action.

Like SnakeEyes jus said, it seemed like they didn't know what they wanted to do the whole movie so they jus kept switching directions. All my friends seemed very pleased but for the exception of Hit Girl's awesomeness I was very much not. I really couldn't even enjoy the movie besides her until I jus gave up on caring about it entirely and then it was jus for pure cheap thrill factor.

Overall 6/10
Hit Girl 13/10

i hated the love interest aspect

I f*cking loved, as I said in the other thread. (no idea why there's too, but oh well, no biggie) I didn't care for the changes, it kept me entertained, and I loved:

Spoiler:
Cage's way of speaking, seemed like Adam West Batmanish. It gave me an old-school Batman and Robin feeling.
No idea why that's in spoilers, but I didn't want to ruin that for people.

Wonder how long until Mark Millers lastest comic gets turned into a movie.

Donno but would be nice if just once one of them actually got portrayed accurately! 😬

Yea I said walking outta the theater when my girlfriend's sister that hates Cage was defending him, that he played Adam West's Punisher in the Dark Knight's gear. 🙄

In the comic there was nothing corney about Big Daddy's attitude.
