Harley Quinn Appreciation Thread
I was watching some Harley Quinn based episodes on Youtube and figured I should make this thread because she's a damn awesome character.
Harley Quinn first appeared in the Batman: The Animated Series episode "Joker's Favor" (episode #22, original airdate: September 11, 1992), as what was originally supposed to be the animated equivalent of a walk-on role – a number of police officers were to be taken hostage by someone jumping out of a cake, and it was decided that to have The Joker do so himself would be too bizarre. A female follower of the Joker was thus created. Arleen Sorkin, formerly starring in the soap opera Days of our Lives, appeared in a dream sequence in which she wore a jester costume - Dini used this scene as an inspiration, writing the character specifically so Sorkin could voice her. Dini, who had been friends with Sorkin for years, incorporated aspects of her personality into the character.
Personally, I think that the character of Harley Quinn is purely brillaint. To quote what was said in the featurette on Batman: Gotham Knight: "Harley shows what can happen when someone puts massive expectations into another person." Truthfully, the way she turns criminal is brilliant and the way that she always comes back to the Joker no matter what reflects how all people are eventually attracted to someone who is absolutely no good for them. She had a decent amount of episodes in TAS and she showed that she could definitely handle a 30 minute episode without the Joker or any other villain. If push came to shove, I'd love to see her in the third Batman movie without the Joker. Before you guys stop reading, hear me out. What they could do is have her be inspired by the Joker and love him instantly so she goes out committing crimes. Now, she doesn't have to be a huge villain, she could work as a minor villain. Or, if they go the recasting route, she could be alongside Mr. J every step of the way, but I'm still against a recast.

This is a link to a video about some of the people who worked on the cartoon show explaining how they came up with the character and how she was originally meant to only be a one shot character. I certainly would've hated it had that happened.
Getting back to her being cast in the next Batman movie, if she was, who could play her? It needs to be someone beautiful, and that could pull off that New York esque accent, and also has the body. Some of the people that come to mind would only have the look, not the act.
Anywho, this thread is to appreciate Harley in all her glory. Let us bask in her Quinness.
