It would have been better if Marek was just out for revenge against Vader and the Emperor, he still could have had the relationship with Juno and all but he should have stayed a darksider.

It would have been quite a shift, albeit a preferred one over what's been handed us, if Marek was just a bad guy through and through. Doing the Sith's dirty work for 'em while simultaneously plotting their downfall. He'd fail of course, but it'd be neat if his presence inadvertantly caused a major plot device down the road that wound up helping the rebels.
