Key word in that is if.There's no reason to believe it's true in the extent you believe it is. But at least it's more plausible than that lizard-men bit. Hypothetically speaking, what is to be done if what you believe is true?
You didn't really answer my question, Deano. If you're correct, then voting doesn't matter, so while useless, it is also harmless in practice. If you're wrong, not voting could be potentially harmful. Look at the 2000 U.S. election, people who would vote Democratic are more likely to put off voting, especailly the younger groups.
you only have to look at what some politicians have hinted at throughout history. there is a rich group of people more powerful and controlling than the government itself.
remember your great president JFK once tryed to tell us of the dangers of secret societys. he was the last true great leader. but he didnt play along and he got killed for it. here was his speech

Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men's views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the Field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.' -
Woodrow Wilson, The New Freedom (1913)
"The world is governed by people far different from those imagined by the public." - Benjamin Disraeli, Victorian-era Prime Minister of Britain
"The real rulers in Washington are invisible and exercise power from behind the scenes." -- Felix Frankfurter, United States Supreme Court Justice
"In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, it was planned that way." -- Franklin D. Roosevelt
Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an INvisible government owing NO allegiance and acknowledging NO responsibility to the people. To destroy this invisible government, to befoul this unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of today." President Theodore Roosevelt, 1906

besides these quotes there is tons of evidence to suggest an hiddin hand controlling everything. Voting is pointless. time to wake up
