New Fall Show: Worst Week

There's a new comedy Worst Week coming out on CBS, and it looks seriously hilarious. It's on after How I Met Your Mother and Two and a Half Men, so basically that night is awesome for comedy. (HIMYM is my current favorite comedy).

These characters look really engaging too, so I'm looking forward to it... it's definitely one of those "awkward humor" types of shows, so I'm totally into it. 😄

Gah, why do they have to keep re-making British stuff? Just show the damn originals!

How are you Airwin?

I've seen a few tidbits on this. It looks like its very funny and maybe on the air for a while.

Doing well, Bruce! You?

I agree, the bits they've shown are really funny. Of course, even unfunny things can have funny trailers if they cram all the best parts into it, but this one is so funny that I can't see it being anything else. Plus it's on CBS, which has How I Met Your Mother, which is like my favorite sitcom in the world right now. Though I already said that, it can't be said enough. 😆 It'll be on Sept. 22 at 9:30 p.m.

See, I don't have a problem with remakes of British shows. Like on the Office -- it started off similar but has completely diverged. I like both versions of it, but they're both very different shows, in my opinion. I think it's possible to take an already great idea and take it in a new direction and get something just as enjoyable. 😉 Besides, some of the most successful shows out there over the years have been remakes.

'The Worst Week of my Life' is not an extendable premise.

The only reason for these re-makes is an insular attitude. Thank God we won't let it happen with Doctor Who.

Pretty good, just waiting to watch certain shows..

Sept 22, cool I'll be watching.

The original was shit, why remake it?

...maybe they're trying to make gold out of that 'shit'?

I agree on one count -- Doctor Who needs no American reboot. David Tenant ftw. <3

That said, there have been plenty of show that were adapted from British shows that were perfectly successful and good. Three's Company, All in the Family... and, of course, The Office. Both the original and the remake are great, but in different ways.

It is a sustainable premise, actually. As I understand it, each episode covers a week or a few days in the week, and each one is worse than the previous one, theoretically leading up to the "worst week" of his life. Kinda like how people said How I Met Your Mother wasn't sustainable, but here we are three years later and it's still one of the best comedies on television and, indeed, he's still got his kids there on his couch listening to the story of how he met their mother.

Trsut me.

It's not a sustainable premise. We already found that out.

How so? How I Met Your Mother is something very similar, and it's not only sustainable but it's also one of the best comedies on TV today. And just because you don't like the British version of a show doesn't mean the U.S. version is gonna suck... it's quite possible to see a good premise that lacked the proper execution, and fix that part of it.

Besides, critics are really liking it so far:

Almost certainly the most promising newcomer -- and U.K. format import -- of the fall, "Worst Week" only tempers enthusiasm because the opener is so intricate it's difficult to envision what the series can do for an encore, much less an entire season. Nevertheless, Kyle Bornheimer makes for an appealing lead, while Kurtwood Smith is a candidate for knighthood for his latest cranky dad. Although not cut from CBS' familiar sitcom mold, the pilot is certainly funny enough to capitalize on its "Two and a Half Men" lead-in...

Anyone watch episode 2? Thought it was really hilarious. The bit with the bird in the pocket... oi... 😆
