He'd get killed in both scenarios. Monarch's blast destroyed a universe; Thanos with full shielding couldn't stand up to a somewhat more than casual blast from Galactus.

Dooms shield is better than Thanoss.

Multiply Monarch's blast by infinity and Thanos still survives.
