Rek packed what was left of his medical supplies away in his pack, and removed a syringe. "Hold still," he pulled off the plastic covering with his teeth and jabbed it into her arm. "That should help keep you on your feet." He said as he pushed the clear liquid into her vein. "There." he sighed and chucked the syringe to the floor, and punched up several frequencies on his com but static greeted him. "It's working but not receiving anything right now." He gripped her arm tightly.

She grunted. "Adrenalin?" Her com was dead. "Mines down."

Rek nodded. "We should try and get to the chopper." He got an arm under hers and supported her. "This way." he turned and entered a stairwell.

"Rek.. In case we don't make it." She forced him to stop. "I want you to know..." She looked into his eyes. "... You have horrible aim." She grinned and continued up the stairs.

Rek paused at that, then smiled and followed her. "I'm not that bad a shot, am I?" He asked her as they reached the top of the stairwell.

She laughed softly. "Your kill shots tend to be an inch and a half to the right."

"Hey," he pleaded, having prided himself on his accuracy with an assault rifle and an assortment of other weapons, "what do you mean by that." He sweeped into the hallway first, checking both ends visually. Lowering the weapon, he looked at Kat. "Maybe I gave you too much of the adrenalin."

She smiled. "Maybe."

He started walking down the hallway, keeping the rifle raised. "What have we left to fight for?" He asked her.

She limped along behind him. "America... And my son."

Rek completely missed what she had said. "America, yeah..." He said and looked at her as he checked a side entrance.

She glaired at the back of his head. "Glad you care. Where is the helicopter?"

"On the helipad. You must have hit- wait you have a son?" He ask, coming to a complete stop, and turning to face her. "I didn't know."

She kept going, brushing past him. "I was pregnant with him durring the first Hazmat."

Rek looked at her, puzzled. "You were pregnant during the Delta contagion?" He looked at her concerned. "You do know, that what ever home we had, no longer exists. Your son, he may already..." Rek trailed off. "The chopper it two floors up along a gangway to the helipad." He said instead.

She sighed. "Doctors didn't know, I didn't know. If he's gone then we move on."

"I'm sorry, Kat, I-" Rek grabbed Kat's arm and pulled her to him, and placed his lips on hers. He had no explainable reason for doing so, just an urge of desperation and impulse.

Kat moaned softly and closed her eyes. If their lives wernt in danger, then shed have him right there. She needed him. They had been through a lot. Rek was the only person she wanted to spend the rest of her haunted life with.

Rek broke the kiss after a minute and a half. His eyes slowly opened. "Sorry." He said quietly.

Kat reached up and ran a gloved hand over his cheek. "Dont be."
