Having contradictions to your history is bad enough, but having completly different origins is pretty stupid. From what I've read, the writer of the 2004 mini-series flat-out said that he ignored everything when he wrote that series.

The writer for Cry for Blood meant to retell the Helena's origin a more realistic fashion while tying more of her past up with the mob. I haven't kept up with the newest series so I couldn't tell how much change was made, but I did enjoy the older mini.
