Yeah I was thinking Villains would respect someone like the Punisher / Wolverine or MUCH more than Thor. Much like Batman, villains are actually scared of the Punisher (although unlike Batman... they have a reason to fear the Punisher) and out of that fear comes respect.
The ones Wolverine and Punisher fights are usually a bit different from the ones Thor fights. Wolverine might get heaps of respect from his opponents that are honourable, but he fights so many "monsters" and scum.
Even the Trolls Thor fights play by certain rules and respect treaties set.

Thor fighting more "honorable" villains doesn't mean villains in general respect him more, it means his villains in general respect everyone more. 😎
Anyway... I don't know... the Brood tell their childern scary storys about Wolverine to keep them in line, he is the Brood's boogyman, does Thor have any scary bed time stories about him that keep an intire species looking over their shoulders in fear?

Trust me, a guy like Kang who has actually fought Thor several times, has more respect for him than for a chump like Wolverine. I agree that Punisher is more feared in the street-level crime.
Even Dr Doom gave Punisher props also a 'clone' of Dr Doom wanted Punisher to kill the real Doom.
