Does anyone else find Bob Ross utterly hypnotic?

I was watching TV this weekend and I stumbled across a series of episodes of "The Joy of Painting" starring the late Bob Ross. I never understood how, but the man is utterly addicting, in my opinion, to watch. Before I knew it, I had been watching him for almost two hours.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Here's a picture, for the uninitiated:

I think watching anyone draw or paint is hypnotic period

Agreed.

It's genuinely calming listening to him speak, but I can't help feeling bad.

He seemed to actually be the embodiment of whatever it means to be positive, and the world just isn't for people like him.

He's in that black room, painting, in a world of his own, and I just wonder what he's like when he switches on the news or experiences the actual world. I wonder what he's like when he's angry, just doesn't seem possible.

It's almost like listening to a relaxation record.

He died of lymphoma in '95, I think. Truly sad.
