For the record, i was the first one to call him Baby Jesus Cable...And I dont think ppl realize, that Cable without the TO virus well... IMHO.... He's the strongest telepath on earth... Stronger than any of his other incarnations, and his siblings.
I think this version of Cable can take some wins here.
jesus cable destroyed the surfers's board, sent the srufer crashign into the ground, all the time matter manipulating near nukes worth of damage the surfer was doing to the enviornments, forcing a telepathic link with the surfer's mind, being in telepathic contact with every life force on earth and keeping the entire giant island of providence with all the people afloat in the upper atmosphere. and he didnt even want to FIGHT.
ofcourse, if you add GL PIS{thes strongest kind of PIS there is} then no1 can win against em.

hal ftw..
not really, he didnt want to fight, he was employing his power elsewhere AND most importantly, he PLANNED on being defeated to conceal his existance form the world so that he cud be labotomised and not burn out with his power. another important thing to remember, surfer was wrong when he said cable had lost his power due to the eye beam, cable lost it LATER, on PURPOSE, when he was labotomised. {almost makes it seem that surfer and cable had pre planned it, but i dunno}
Originally posted by leonheartmmwhen cable lost his power is not a concern of mine. i was referring to the fact that once surfer began taking the battle a bit more seriously, and actually used his powers - all it took was a single eye-blast, a single display of the power cosmic [and in retrospect, a meager one at that], to own cable:

in fact, said eye-blast resulted in cable's energy signal almost flat-lining:
hal, ftw.

Well Cable had also exhausted himself by the time he stopped in his offensive attacks.

Well if that’s the case, then I am taking Cables opinion.
----------------------------------------------
IM: Your joking, but what if that happens? Is there anyone out there who could push your power levels to those limits?
Cable: That’s an interesting question. I don’t know…no one that I can think…well, unless…
IM: Unless what?
Cable: An unexpected wild card exacerbates the situation, I don’t know, some how forcing me to generate more power than I had planned to use on a faster timetable. That might cause me to burn out faster, before I can cover the world in my little telepathic security blanket. And then…

^ - This article holds a vary direct purpose, you even see Cable speaking with Surfer at the left hand corner.

And it follows with the next page.
Cable: …I don’t know, no one that I can think of…well, unless.
IM: Nate…Why didn’t you think of him?
And you have Cables comment at the vary bottom
This IS Enough!? We cant keep repairing all this damage. I can’t last much longer. This wasn’t suppose to work this way.

Taking all this in mind, you had Cables opinion, Irene comment. So 3 pages that comment on exhausting his power, that directly lead to the Eye Blast Cable failed to defend. With all this in mind, plus the known fact that keeping Providence afloat limited his mutagenic powers. Along with showing signs of exhaustion before Shield, Six Pack, and X-Men came into the scene. … I don’t think I am out of line when I say, he exhausted himself enough, to the point of being unable to defend from Surfers Eye Beam.

as you can see, even after these 'exhaustion' comments were made, cable still manages to break surfer's board/send surfer himself smashing to the ground, then send surfer flying with yet another blow.

it was only after this, we see surfer finally get pissed, and own cable with a single shot which almost killed him:
Originally posted by id369was cable tired? more than likely. but if he were truly exhausted, i just don't see him doing what he did to surfer.

see, you're basing your opinion mainly off of what was said about cable's power level at the time - while i'm basing my opinion off of what he displayed on panel. that's why i said it's all a matter of opinion.
You claim, quote on quote, that my comments comes from the biases of his power level at the time and does not directly lead to the whole eye beam scenario.
Then why does the article have a picture of the Surfer vs. Cable in real time? Why is Irene going over the interview while the Surfer is fighting Cable in actual time?
Why are we being spoon feed, on Cables exhaustible power, and time frame for the past 3 pages leading to the eye beam scenario?
Why didn’t, Cable defend himself from the attack? considering one of his last comments was “But I’ve run out of time”?
Originally posted by id369Wasn't Cable referring to his age, comparing to Silver Surfer being immortal?

Originally posted by id369my only point was that after the 'exhaustion' comments were made, cable was still capable of dishing out some decent blows to surfer, before he was owned. that leads me to believe cable was not 'exhausted' in the literal sense, as i don't see an 'exhausted' cable being able to do..... anything to surfer, really.

it's a case where statements and depictions clash. that's why this is simply a matter of opinion. 🙂
Originally posted by id369i believe cable was referring to surfer's immortality, compared to his own mortality in that statement. it had nothing to do with his personal power.
considering one of his last comments was “But I’ve run out of time”?
Point taken I am moving along.
Well its going to take more then a simple energy beam from a GL, to bring down Cable. I refuse to believe that a rested, and prepared Cable will be taken out when the variables presented in the Surfers clash are not present.
The Current GL, has limited energy capacity. I think if Hal tried to replicate what Cable did feat for feat. He would run out of energy as well. However, the GL has more proven feats compared to Cable in terms of speed, power, and reliability. In terms of TP protection, I believe GL have a hit and miss record. If Cable truly knew who he would be up against, he would try to get a hold of more equipment to asset or something but this isn’t the case.
I think it would be a great comic book clash, considering their range of power and personalities. But Hal takes this.
