don't know if this makes a difference, but I intended him to possess the soul gem for this match

Which gives him a sporting chance, but won't likely make a difference.

He's a decent matchup for either one these 1-on-1. More skilled and possibly more versatile, but not as much raw power. But with both, he's screwed.

You also posted a pic of current Warlock, which is a different incarnation than classic soul gem Warlock.

yeah, I fault my poor knowledge of the character to begin with and that wiki bio wasn't very helpful in gauging his power
