What is not addresssed in the post? The actual context in which the comments were made. Sadly, I have the insight of a number of McCain supporters to fall back on in response to this thread. I have met a large number of McCain supporters that were not so aligned during the primaries, but find themselves so aligned now. When the democratic primary came down to the wire and it appeared evident that Obama would be the nominee, many a now McCain supporter actually said that this would not be the case if the African-American population had been actually considered after the civil rights movement; my mother included. This is not a matter of blacks not being given enough, it's a matter of making sure they didn't get what your average white citizen was guarenteed by the interpretation of the constitution at the time. The people who cling to this interview are also the people who think that there's a huge black population that is just waiting for a black president to be elected so they can rise up and give the white man a good what-for style rogering. These are the same people who decried Reverend Wright while also claiming Mr. Obama was a Muslim. Which is it?
I find it funny that those who call Obama a Socialist, conveniently ignore that McCain has said,"Here’s what I really believe: That when you reach a certain level of comfort, there’s nothing wrong with paying somewhat more." in response to a young woman's comment about American becoming closer to being a Socialist country.
Secondly, they also have little idea what "Socialism" means and just use it as a fear-tactic, all the while supporting "spread the wealth" programs in kind. School property taxes, Social Security, Medicare, that's all "spreading the wealth" too.
This double standard from the Right is hilarious, especially now that McCain's similar stance has come to light, many who called Obama a Socialist have magically switched to labelling him a Marxist, because you know, if a Republican/Conservative does it, it's not really Socialism anymore.

And what is this "radical re-interpretation"? What does that mean? Because you say it as though he's going to pull a Jefferson on the bible and cut out all the juicy parts for white people and take their cash and give it to black people.
