Rage of The Red Lanterns

So what's the deal with these Red Lanterns?
I'm a big Lantern fan, but Superboy Prime punched me out of the DC universe a while ago so I'm not up to speed yet.

here's a question....can the red lanterns make more then just fire? cause it seems like thats almost all they made.
