Chameleon and Fantômas

I recently noticed an uncanny resemblance between the Chameleon and another supervillain, Fantomas (from the 60s french films Fantômas).

They both are criminal geniuses and masters of disguises whose real faces are never seen, always wearing a faceless mask.

Did Stan Lee possibly draw his inspiration from this movie?

Oh wow that's interesting, well he's never confirmed it, but he's never denied it either, i think it's a very high change thats the case... mmm

I have to ask when was the film released?

mmm Chameleon appeared a year earlier, but it's possible that Stan knew about the film or had some sort of info on it and used that's as a basis for the Chameleon.

That or it's just a coincidence.

Or maybe they got the Fantomas idea from Stan perhaps
