glowing eye, metal arm, psi-mitar, tons of pouches. did cable go to the future, or the DC universe?

they're going WAY too 'messiah' with supes, imo. at this point i really wouldn't be overly surprised if he was killed by being nailed to a kryptonite cross.

I have to give the benefit of the doubt here...JSA has been the best comic book from any company in a long time...I.M.O,....i will be there 🙂

"Frankly, at the time, I could give a damn about Magog. He was a character who was a metaphor for the modern era of Image/Rob Liefeld style characters." - Alex Ross

And Cable already exists in the DCU:

superman was originally created to be a messianic figure, no?

The opposite of that.

Messianic in a sense... Morrison gave an interview at Newsarama interesting where he explained it in a pretty interesting way.

Superman is not a Messiah in the sense of Christ. Christ never threw down with his opponents and attempted to fix things directly through is own power. The Christian Messiah is a heir to a long tradition of the mythological concept of the suffering, sacrificial god (Osiris, Ra, so on). Superman, on the other hand, while he does risk himself for humanity, doesn't offer himself up as a sacrifice for the redemption or salvation of mankind- which is why the recent movie just felt wrong.

I've never liked the "Messianic Supes" idea. It doesn't really ring true to the idea of the heroic everyman, workman's-hero of the '30s Superman.
