Too begin with I think Beyonce on acting talent alone would be horrible for the part of WW, even if they focused the movie on Nubia (WW's ex black sister) i would still rather a talented black actress. But on the whole race thing i think its stupid. Superheroes are icons that a lot of people grow up with and try to find connections with. Such a radical change is a mistake for such a huge icon. When x-men 1 was being planned and they said they had cast a guy who was over 6 foot for Wolverine, as a short person I was pissed. One of the reasons I like Wolverine is that he is short but he still gets respect. When Colossus spoke in X-men 2 and had an american accent I lost it. Minor roles where race doesnt play a part, then yes cast the best actor. But for a comic movie, your already gonna have a hard enough sell to anyone who knows the character. So why already screw it up by making a horrible decision on the titular character. I mean why stop at race, why not make supes a woman.

oh i agree, she's not the WW type, but if they had to use a black actress you might as well use someone that is super easy on the eyes.thats a face you could wake up to every morning
and then some... 😂
I wish we could end the debate about a black actress playing Diana...
You're going to have Wonder Woman in a feature somewhere down the line. People will learn about Themyscria in the film, and it's proximity to Greece. People will expect the women from there to be Caucasian or have a deep Mediterranean colour. Seeing someone Black playing Diana, it will smell of bulls**t political correctness; it won't be bought by the audience. Now in other films, they can show different tribes of women from the island that look African. But if Diana is Black, then her mother & sister have to be too; that's going too far. It didn't even feel right in the 1970's when Diana got played by a blond actress (Cathy Lee Crosby), never mind a Black one.
Characters like Kingpin, Nick Fury, and even Catwoman can have their races changed because their ethnic background is incidental. Diana's is not.

catwoman? yes. selina kyle? hells no.
but yeah on the other stuff...
It's good to see we all don't see in color anymore!
If Beyonce is a hot product that movie studios see $$ in, then they are going to go with the most bankable star they see fit. Political correctness is back in full swing now that Obama's in office...or at least that's how people are going to see it. No matter what we do now it will always come back as PC if something in our precious world is changed. Comics are fantasy to begin with (yes they have history i get that) If it were a story about Stalin or Lenin and Mario Lopez was up for the part...i can see the point.
Is change always bad? or is it the anticipation of the change and the Unknown. Imagine a job that u could not change, all day every day same ol. Let a director try his vision. If it does not work they will hopefully see the error of their ways...then we can bombard with our complaints and get a movie just the way we like it...in a perfect world 🙂
And Beyonce is a horrible actor imho.

So I suppose if we let the filmmakers go this way, we'll let them change it so Themyscria is off the coast of Egypt, not Greece, to account for the fact Black Amazons(or something) run the place. Might as well change it to them being servants to the Egyptian Gods, not the Greek ones. Right?
No. Diana's ethnic identity is tied into her character. Just like above, the suggestion of Mario Lopez playing Lenin or Stalin (unless it's under heavy makeup.) Is Beyonce going to go for skin treatments to look more Caucasian? I-don't-think-so.

Well she IS a L'Oréal spokeperson...Maybe they can help lighten her 🙂
I guess suspending reality in comics is easier than in Movies.
