TDK Academy Awards

Alright, people. It's only a few very, very short months until the Oscars are handed out. And it seems definite that TDK will at least grab one or two.

So, this is the thread where you post your predictions as to what oscars TDK will either be nominated for or will win. If you want to, give reasoning.

Here is what I think it will get:

Win- Best Supporting Actor
Win- Best cinematography
Possible win- Best sound editing
Nomination- Best Adapted Screenplay
Nomination- Best Picture

What do you have to say? Place your bets now!

When I saw best supporting actor, I immediately thought of Aaron Eckhart because I think of Joker as the main character, lol. But yeah, Heath should win best supporting actor. Also, does the academy awards get to count the IMAX version for cinematography?

Best Picture nomination is not out of the question - the film has made that much of an impact.
Other noms could be for Director, Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Film Editing, Sound, Sound FX Editing, Visual Effects, Original Score...
And two noms for Best Supporting Actor - Heath Ledger & Aaron Eckhart.
(Imagine if Gary Oldman got a nom too - there hasn't that many supporting noms since the first Godfather movie.)

Aaron Eckhart, IMO, doesn't deserve a best supporting actor award. He was pretty good, but nothing "O-awesome". Gary Oldman is more deserving, even if he had a small role.

And original score is disqualified, remember?

And do you think it actually has a shot at winning best picture? I'm sure it will get nominated, but a win?

Who got nominated for The Godfather then? Brando, Duvall and Caan?

I think Bale has been unfairly overshadowed. If he gets an award(which he won't), I'd be very pleased. Him and Ledger were equally fantastic.

Even though we have had two of the BEST superhero movies the genre has ever produced(and I don't mean that lightly in TDK and Ironman, this has been a subpar year for movies.

The year is not over. Personally, I'm looking forward to Slumdog Millionaire and the Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Still, I don't remember the last year when summer movies were this good. In fact, I consider Wall-E and the Dark Knight to be superior to many films that won 'best picture' (like Titanic... ugh).

Slumdog Millionaire stands to be a really good movie. It stars the kid from Skins, which is one of only 3 personalities from that series I called "should be watched" in the future. And if anyone is familiar, then the cast is quite large. Patel would be at the top of that list. I've not seen the film, but I'm sure he's capable. But that's no basis on which to say with certainty. He was excellent in Skins.

I would absolutely cast my vote for Mr. Ledger as a supporting actor in The Dark Knight. No one has outdone his performance in years.

I'm really hyped up for it because it's directed by Danny Boyle, though. That guy is one of my favorite directors.

Hey, people, don't forget to post! 😛

Both Ledger and Eckhart would be deserving of Best Supporting Actor IMO. They were both that good. Ledger moreso though.

And I agree Bale has been overshadowed too. He was solid as usual.

i heard from somewhere that it wouldn't get a best picture nomination for some reason. I really think it should. Hands down. There really hasn't been a movie this year (or in last few years) that can compare to TDK in terms of writing and depth.
It's a masterpiece in my book.

Seriously? How about No Country For Old Men, The Departed and There Will Be Blood?

It seems like a lot of the TDK fanboys don't realize that there are other great (and dare I say, better) films out there.

^ This year? Nah.

Though the Departed is definitely a rival to TDK- and quite superior in several spots, actually.

I meant in general.

Duh. But 'best picture' is regarding the quality of films this year. It's all proportional.

Didn't both There Will Be Blood and No Country For Old Men come out this year?

Of course, but he said "There really hasn't been a movie this year (or in last few years) that can compare to TDK in terms of writing and depth."

I'm just saying that that's not true. Within the last few years, there've been many comparable/better films than TDK. Even this year, Wall-e, and I've heard Slumdog Millionaire (and some other movies) rival The Dark Knight in terms of writing, directing, depth, etc.

So yeah, it may seem like an obvious statement to you, but from what I've seen, it's like TDK was the first good movie a lot of members here have ever seen.

No. They both came out last year in December, and played throughout January. They both got nominated for best picture of '07, and No Country won.

Well, yeah, to make the statement that TDK is easily the best film of the last couple of years is, in my opinion, an incorrect statement.

I've already said I'm extremely psyched for Slumdog. Wall-e? As good a movie as it is, I don't feel that it's as good as TDK.

Well... I gotta ask; what movies have come out in the last three or four years that you consider decidedly superior to TDK? Not just 'rival', or 'may be better', but really superior.
