No one here's reading final crisis are they. Darkseid is multiversal because here mere presence is collapsing the multiverse. Darkseid isn't powered up because of the ALE he's powered up because every past showing of Darkseid was an avatar. Darkseid claimed the heroes had only encountered the 'idea' of Darkseid now they would see him in person.

It hasn't been shown to work on Superman because Superman is out cruising round the ultramenstrum with some of his alternates and out of its reach.
