The Wrestler is... Mickey Rourke?
Mickey Rourke is back as a washed up wrestler in a low end league.
Randy “The Ram” Robinson was at the top of his game in the eighties, but twenty five years later he finds himself starting over again every night at the bottom. Mickey Rourke is a warrior with a lot of old wounds in Darren Aronofsky's movie, and rather than move on and become a grocery clerk, Randy wrestles to survive.
Typical sports movie, The Wrestler starts with a has been hero looking for a life, and ends with a rematch against The Ayatollah.
This isn't the WWF 'professional' wrestling and or play acting, but rather this is the bone crushing grapefruit league where amateurs face off against each other in grueling untelevised matches in front of local crowds screaming for blood. I love it!
