Women...un-be-lievable

Here's the situation.

I had arranged to go out tonight with a woman i know and another friend i know. She asked if it would be ok to ask her new boyfriend or whether it would be "weird"...I said no...it'd be fine.

Then this morning i had an issue come up with a family member that needed sorted....namely my little cousin's boyfriend had been beating shit out of her so she moved back with her parents (along with her 2 year old son) until he moved out their flat...he kept refusing to go. He finally agreed so my uncle went along to be in the flat while he was getting his stuff. they ended up having an argument and the guy ended up knocking shit out my uncle. So i had to cancel to go up to my cousin's flat to kick the guy out

So i cancelled...i didn't want this lady friend of mine to know the full details because, quite frankly it's none of her business. so i text the following

"not going to be able to make tonight. something's come up. sorry."

i get the usual text of concern asking what's wrong and whether it's because she'd invited her new boyfriend and telling me that he couldn't make it anyway

i said "can't be helped. can't really talk about. hope you can get someone else to go"

she then said it was ok and that she'd cancelled the reservations at the restaraunt because she didn't want to go just with our other friend who happens to be married because going out alone with a married man is a gray area

i said that was understandable and that we'd get something else organised soon.

so...i went straight from work to deal with the issue i mentioned...it took about an hour...so now i'm home and low and behold i'm online...she sees i'm online and i get a message through bebo saying this..

Gary what;s going on with you? I'm pretty pissed off after sitting like a plum phoning round places and booking a table with you not even wanting to suggest a place to eat?? Then you cancel at the eleventh hour - the restaurant was pissy with me on the phone and now you're sitting on Bebo????? What the ****???? Why don't you and Bradley just head out cause I've had enough of the shitey treatment off men this year....why are you making me feel like I've done something wrong?

Both of you should calm down, she just jumped the gun and thought you were flat out lying, should have been more clear to her and she shouldn't be assuming.

She was probably upset that it was cancelled in the first plac which is why she reacted that way

Tell her to build a bridge and get over it. its not like the whole world revolves around certain persons (women) as they think. You had your stuff to do and one day she might have hers too.

Just explain that your computer just happened to be online during a crisis.

Well, we guys will likely never meet him or deal with his family...she on the other hand is in the area and apparently a friend that might know or meet his family...so...it's different.

Exactly...i have had girlfriends less clingy than this...I don't ask for explanations from friends when they text me saying they can't make it to nights out for whatever reason.

i don't know what else i can say. I've already apologised for cancelling...i have nothing else to apologise for so any issue she has with it she'll have to deal with.

While I think you didn't do anything wrong, see it from her POV, you cancelled abruptly, you were very vague as to why and not long after she sees you online chatting (or thinking you were). I wouldn't tell her to ****-off just yet. Explain that you had a serious family issue (don't have to give details) and that you took care of it right after work, then went home to cool off.

Tell her it was nothing against her and if she likes, you'd love to take her out soon. If she still acts pissy, then boot her to the curb.
