Eddie has demonstrated "high" fighting skill when he didn't have the symbiote. He was pretty much a peak human too.

He has become human several times in between. If he is somehow not adapted to human form he may lose, but he is a very accomplished fighter, well trained and with lots of experience.

Brock is not a pushover either. His fighting skills are actually quite decent, it's just that people don't give him the credit he deserves.

I guess that happens when some mischievous writer makes Venom bullrush with his eyes closed...

As the Thing Ben gives a good fight to Hulk, who is far stronger, because of his reflexes and fighting skills. As a human against Eddie Brock, Ben won't have the same power disadvantage. He is a better fighter and was brawling in Yancy street from an early age, while Brock was being brought up in relative luxury. Ben ftw.
