Which decade would you live in?

If you had the choice to live WHEN you wanted, which decade/era would you choose and why?

For me, there's something appealing about the 1950s. Everything seemed so pure, fun and simple back then. I realize this is probably pretty naive, but I'd like to think there's some truth to that as well. I picture myself driving a hot cheerleader up to Make-out Point and parking there in my muscle car with a view of the town, going to drive-ins, getting milkshakes all the time, etc., all the cliche stuff.

Anyway, have at it.

This decade. I love technology.

And after the next decade is over, it will be that decade.

Depending on how it all plays out I might prefer to live in 2 to 3 decades in the future.

Though, really, this one, at my age, in my location, is a really sweet deal.

yeah I have the same ideas you do.I so much wish I could have been a teenager growing up in the 50's.Times were so much more innocent and like you said-pure and fun back then.the world wasnt anywhere near as dangerous to live in as it is now.You could go to a drive in resteraunt and get a milk shake anytime you wanted and you had those resteraunts like in happy days where everybody would get out on the dancefloor and dance and sip away at milkshakes. These days to do that you got to go to some bar where there is alcohol going around everywhere and you cant hear yourself talk over the blaring loud music. 😠 and like you said,it was the thing to do to drive your girl out to some makeout point.man it sucks not being able to get into a time machine and go back into time. 🙁

Either back in the Colonial times, now, or the future.

I hate everything about the culture of the 1900's..mostly the 60's and 70's.

Far in the Future so I can fly through space and explore the planets.

1960s; being 15 in 1950, 25 in 1960 and 35 in 1970 🙂

would have lived through the best non-electronic music of our age and the most important civil rights shit.

EDIT: and that free love orgy kinky stuff 🙂

That's more prevalent now.

Brought to you by Craig's list. The amount of sex stuff listed on Craig's list for OKC alone is actually gross. I can't believe that there is that many people out there that are looking for sex, porn shoots, and on ther kinky stuff.

no, I'd say free love and that philosophy is pretty dead on university campuses and stuff like that.

As a whole, our society is more overtly sexualized, however there are still major taboos about sex, and the use of sex as personal liberation seems dead.

I might live in the wrong city, but our local government had to get involved when a swingers club was getting set up.

60s or 90s

60's. Free love, no aids. Could **** everyone without worry. Good movies as well.

The 50's . It just seemed like America's Golden Age. From what I can gather from research.

The 40s. Everything was prettier. The music was prettier, the clothes were prettier, and then there's Old Hollywood. Oh how I adore Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

Unless i could choose another era to live in while having the knowledge and memories that i have now. I would stay in the here and now. If, however, i could choose another era to live in while knowing what i know now. Well, i would most likely choose the late 1800's or early 1900's. Any further back and i am risking being alienated by the spoken word. I can only speak English, so i wouldn't want to be put at a disadvantage. I think the 1800-1900's would be perfect though. I would be running the fukin world with my knowledge. I would be more famous than anyone and i would live through history books for all time. Not only would i blow peoples mind with rock and roll but i would have published hundreds of books, created hundreds of inventions and predicted hundreds of events. I would be considered a divine prophet. I would be..., a God.

late 60s and early 70s of course when I when I was young so much change happened then..wish I could go back with what I know now and witness not change but witness things as an adult...would be a different perception than what I had...star wars would have been even kewler!

I was going to say 1570's, but after dwelling on it for a while, I changed it to 1580's.

8010, when mankind has been elevated to the position of God-Kings over the universe and we sneer over our domain and spit it the eye of limitations. We rule over the rest of the galaxy as tyrants, taking what pleasure we can from it and giving a two finger salute to those who disagree with our ways. Our slaves beg for mercy, but we rarely give it to them.

That or the 90's. No recession

And music. The height of Mo-Town and acid rock.

Not if you were black it wasn't, it was also the height of the Red Scare and Eisenhower sucked.

In my opinion it's cars were the 50's best contribution. I love the tailfin muscle cars. The '58 T-bird: a true work of art and one of the greatest American cars ever created.
