The White Stripes

The White Stripes

Made up of Jack (vocals, guitar) and Meg White (drums). Their main influence comes from blues and some early punk, but I wouldn't call them a blues or a punk band. Just simple pop songs delivered with a distinctive voice.

And what do you think about the whole pretend-to-be-siblings thing they did for a while.

Anyone seen them live?

Own a couple albums, I enjoy them quite a bit. Havent seen them live but I would jump at the opportunity, I bet Jack puts on a great performance

Jack needs a new drummer 🙄

Seen School of Rock?

They're Garage Rock, not Pop.

Regardless, I love them. One of the best bands of the 00's, in my opinion.

I like them.

I didn't mean to say they're a pop band😛 I was just talkin about the songwriting.

And definitely one of my fav. bands from this century.

But whatcu people think of the sibling thing?

I don't really think the songwriting is poppy either...

The sibling thing? What does it really even matter? If thats how they get along, like brother and sister, more power to them. We're here to critique their music, not their personal lives...

Some of their songs sound like pop.

The Denial Twist
We're Going to Be Friends
I Just Don't Know What to Do with Myself

"We're Going to Be Friends" doesn't sound so much pop-ish as it does folksy, as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, I agree.

My Doorbell
You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do as You're Told)

I could understand those two, but not really the rest.

But that's just my idea.

I never liked the band.....but me being a guitarist...and having many friends in the industry...i got to see them live...to me it was horrible......maybe because i dont like it to begin with...but its my honest opinon

I play guitar too, I consider Jack White to be a quality guitarist

Yeah, pop's a pretty broad description and it is subjective... lets call them 'simple songs delivered with distinctive voice'

Jack White's doin a duet with Thom Yorke, cant wait!
