Our town REQUIRES MCSE just to be a simple bench tech...anyone own their own biz advertising their A+ cert only?..Use to be many in the yellow pages but no more..? anyways in your spare time add your thoughts..I feel robbed as the only job I could get was a technology salesman for an office supply company..grr..just wanted to work on computers..anyone else run into that problem in 2002?
The A+ is much more difficult than it used to be. Incorporating elements from the newly vamped Network +, Security +, and Sever+.
The test is now divided into basic, and then one of three specializations.
I would agree that the old version was easy. The newer version, which was released to the market in 2007, is not.
I have many IT certifications and I still think the hardest one was the A+ because it had so many things from all the other areas.
The security + is a very difficult test. One of the if not THE most difficult test from CompTIA. My coworker has over 35 IT certifications, over 25 from Microsoft. He usually gets a 90% or better on every cert he took. He passed the Security + by only two questions. 😐
I failed it the first time by 1 question. However, I missed only one question the second time I took it. I fuggin' RAPED the Security+ the second time. 😄
Also, the MCSE test has been revamped and made more difficult. Even the 2008 enterpirse admin tests for the 2008 MS Server OS is more difficult that the older versions of the 2003 MSCE.
I will be working on 2003 MSCE and try to get it before July. I will be difficult as I work and go to school full time. I'll tell you how difficult it is compared to the Security +. (Some say apples and oranges when I tell them I'll compare those two tests, I tell them rubbish because they all have the same feel to them.)
