21st Century Breakdown (Green Day Album)

Green Day's upcoming studio album, 21st Century Breakdown is planned to be released May this year.

What are people's thoughts and hopes for this album?

Personally I'm highly looking forward to it, being a bit of a Green Day fan, but I know lots of people aren't so fond of them.

This might get merged into the 'Green Day' thread, but I decided that if Kanye West's 2008 album "808 & Heartbreak" got a thread, so should this.

It'll most likely be as subtle as a brick in the face in terms of it's message...Can't say it's something i'm particularly enthralled about.

intrigued mhmm

I don't really know enough about Green Day or the upcoming album to really pass judgement, but I will say that I got ridiculously tired of 'American Idiot' (the album, not the song) by the end of my freshmen year of high school. I enjoyed probably three songs and even those got tiring. I also didn't really like the message.

But I'm always willing to see where things go.

For the first few listens, their songs are really fun. I'm looking forward to another album I can listen to for a couple of months and have fun with ^_^

But ultimately, it'll be short lived, I think.

Green Day are an old favorite and I even liked American Idiot so I'll be giving this a listen for sure.

By the albums title it sounds like another politically themed album. I haven't heard it so i can't say what i think about it but i really disliked American Idiot. American Idiot was a very melancholy album with to much of a political purpose.

green day is getting worse and worse as they go along. let them die already.

If its anything like their old stuff im all in

Meh. GD never thrilled me. I like them, but I certainly don't circle my calendar when they come to town or release a CD.

I didn't care for American Idiot either.

Why? Did The Beatles just keep playing the same thing? They evolved, matured and that.

I hope you are not comparing The Beatles to Green Day.

There is evolving and maturing, and then there's just getting boring and lame and a bit bad.

That, and the fact that a band has matured doesn't always make for better music.
