It isn't resolved because this is ROTS Sidious not TFU Sidious, I'm not saying Marek would win but you can't say that this thread is automatically resolved because a future (around 16 years I think) of Sidious survived the battle with SK.

I guess that's my bad for not really reading the fact that it was RotS Sidious...😖 sorry. Ok then, taking into account the fact that he is weaker then TFU...
Sidious was able to take out 3 council member jedi within seconds of the 'duel' starting, Windu had some trouble to begin with adjusting to Sidious' style of fighting, but managed to hold him at bay and eventually overcome him. At this level, he was still able to cloud jedi judgement over forthcoming events (i.e. outcome of The Clone Wars, Anakins fate, etc), withstand force lightning directly to the body (suggesting he had some degree of control over how much damage he sustained in battles), and after being mortally scarred was still able to fight Yoda (who in my opinion is on par with sidious).
Garen was trained purely in the sith arts up until his redemption, where he learnt some jedi skills. He bested Vader force wise. Simply because, in both the graphic novelization and game Garen throws things at Vader, as does Vader at Garen (not much saber duelling ensues).
TFU Sidious was simply more matured because of the knowledge he'd learned over the time between TFU and RotS. RotS Sidious was more arrogent, meaning that when he did battle, say Windu, he was not very mindful of the fact that Windu was very fluid when it came to duelling.
This all in mind, Sidious could still best Garen with his saber skill...and i believe force wise he'd best Garen too.
I'd say, first 2 rounds to Sidious hands down (force and saber) and the third would all be down to how well Garen can read peoples fighting styles...

Beg your pardon, but in both the graphic novelisation and the novel Galen beat Vader in sabre duelling.
In the graphic novelisation he slashes Vader's chest while Vader doesn't land a blow on him. Vader responds with a Force Push and Galen wins by dropping two pillars on him.
In the novel he soundly beats Vader in a sabre duel and only uses Force-kinesis to finish him off.

lol, i completely overlooked that. I completely forgot that vader stroles in just in time to see palpy and garen engaged in hand holding...lol
