what is really interesting is how it has been used in the past compared to today.
Big penises have been associated with barbarism, and societies like Japan or ancient Greece/Rome conceptualized the other as the one with the "animalistic" huge penis and insatiable sex drive.
I can think of a few things, though they probably aren't that good at explaining it. Women have more money, and can consume more goods. Therefore they have power in society, and their "pleasure", associated with large penises, has become something that is marketable, be it by the media or in the singles marketplace. The prevalence of pornography probably adds to this, as most men will never see an erect penis besides their own and the ones on screen. The weird relationship between this fact, the fact mostly men consume porn, and the expectation that men in porn will have huge dicks is really fascinating. Its like, actors are picked based on what men think is attractive about men, which creates feelings of inadequacy in men, given that they believe the penis is important in attracting a woman or their own self worth.
