Jackson Signs Nine-Picture Deal to Play Nick Fury!
Source:The Hollywood Reporter, Variety February 25, 2009

Samuel L. Jackson has buried the hatchet with Marvel Entertainment, making a deal to play the role of Nick Fury in Iron Man 2, and potentially many other films.

Jackson's deal is a long-term commitment to play Fury, the leader of the espionage unit S.H.I.E.L.D. His deal contains an option to play the character in nine future Marvel superhero films, efforts that are expected to include The First Avenger: Captain America, Thor, The Avengers, toplining a possible S.H.I.E.L.D. movie, and potential sequels.

Jackson introduced Fury in the closing moments of Iron Man, when the character asked Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark to join his group.

9? wow...

If it's agreeing to appear in support in several Marvel movies, that's plausible. But they should forget doing a SHIELD movie. Fury is most interesting working with the superhero community, not fighting HYDRA.

I like it! Consistency is the best part of any series of movies. Having the same actor play a character through different arcs gives that character more credibility. Unlike the Howard/Cheadle thing.

This is a great deal..

9 movies as Nick Fury..

I'd also be up for a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie it would be something like a James Bond movie but for the comic book world.

it's like sam jack went to costco and got a bunch of nick furies..

I'm not really thrilled about this. I never liked it when elements from both 616 and Ultimate Universes are combined. I like Samuel L. Jackson's acting well enough, and I know he was the basis for Ultimate Nick Fury, but it's still disappointing. I always envisioned Fury to be like George C. Scott's portrayal of General George Patton.

Considering he's 60 now... how old is he going to be if and when they release the last of these films?
