New mystery: Harper's Island

I've been hearing tons about this show lately, after ages of seeing nothing but those cryptic ads on TV that say "Harper's Island: A Mystery Event." It seems like a really unique new thing, reminds me almost of those murder mystery parties, in a good way. And looks like it'll be really interactive with the audience, giving clues to figure out over time who the murderer is. I have to say I am so ready for a show that will be all resolved in one season, no dragging out forever and ever!

Anyone else seen the ads?

I've seen the ads.. Dunno if I will watch though, but this seems interesting

For me it's just really interesting as a new (in my opinion anyway) form of television. It just seems very unique. Instead of one movie/thriller/mystery where everyone's getting killed off, you have installments weekly, time to mull it over, really think about the clues and the characters, figure out what's going on. It's more like reading a book or something where you can pause to figure out the whodunit.

that true.. if i do watch this I may be able to figure things out after a few shows

Have you seen the website? It's pretty interactive and has a couple clips and character bios. Looks like it will have a bunch of content continuing on as the show goes, sort of a parallel web series with additional clues.

I haven't the website, but I will take a look later tonight

[So I watched the first episode of Harper's Island despite the fact that I wasn't expecting it to be any good. And while it wasn't terrible, I don't think it stood out to much either. The main girl who's mom was killed is really quite pretty in an ordinary girl sort of way.

It's kind of funny that they killed Harry Hamlin right off the bat since he was the villain in season one of Veronica Mars.

I hope the blonde girl who had a thing for him sticks around a little while longer if she isn't already dead. I like her.

The little girl who was burning the snail and doing the severed finger in the box trick is really creepy. Creepy little girls are my favorite. It'll be interesting to see her character grow through the episodes.

If they show is a hit and they decide to pick it up for another season with a new cast and new location I wonder if they will keep the same name or if they will think of a new name for the show.]

This show is okay. Nothing incredibly great but worth watching.

I'm curious what everyone thought of the second episode. I'm sad the creepy older girl is dead but I still have faith that the creepy little girl will be around for quite a while. So far we have

Death By Boat Motor
Death By Being Cut In Half
Death By Beheading
Death By Hanging
Death By Immolation

I'm curious how much more gruesome the death's will get and who the killer is.

It's no where near as good as Scream but kudos to them for getting a virtually unknown cast.
