Either way, using racial slurs, can be quite appropriate, and having friends of middle eastern descent has nothing to do with it. Words are just words, none are inherently inappropriate, the circumstances are important. And in this case, it was not meant as an insult to Arabic people, quite on the contrary. Because if you regard the context, it would be obvious to anyone with a functioning brain that I used the term in a manner that was was supposed to point out LDHZ's prejudice against certain Middle Eastern revolutionary groups.
