Greatest Guitar Solo Ever

What is the greatest Guitar Solo Ever?

I say Eruption by Eddie Van Halen.

wow......thats a real toughie......mhmm
i dieffinately like In Living Colour's Cult of Personality solo
Let There Be Rock is a classic

angel of death solo by slayer

I like Hackett's solo in Firth of Fifth. Also enjoy Gilmour's solos, and Alex Lifeson's work. Hard to say what the greatest is though.

Make a list if you want, some of the greatest

Machine Gun

Jimi Hendrix

Rock And Roll Can Rescue the World - Electric Eel Shock

I find the solo in Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd to be one of the greatest and most emotive in rock history. But it all bubbles down to opinion in the end, I don't think it's possible to say there's a single 'Greatest'.

Won't say it is the greatest, but my favorite is the one from Freebird.

also add raining blood solo by slayer.

That is a good solo as well.

Top 5
1. Eruption(the sound that Eddie Van Halen makes is remarkable, and he says he could have made it better. Best guitar solo I've ever heard.)
2. Electric Eye(Glen Tipton rocked on the guitar solo.)
3. Mr.Crowley(Randy Rhoads was god entering Ozzy's life, as this guitar solo proves it.)
4. Number of the Beast(Dave Murray rocks on the beginning, and with Adrian Smith finishing it off makes the guitar solo complete.)
5. Jordan(Buckethead rocks on the guitar solo, the sound is also remarkable.)

I'll name 6-10 later.

Eric Clapton's solo on Crossroads is pretty good.

Jimmy Page--Whole Lotta Love medley (how the West was won) Yeah, he has 3 of the greatest solos through out that song

Both of those are good, actually great. Oh, I meant Crazy Train, not Mr.Crowley.

In no particular order:

1. Jimmy Page- Stairway to Heaven
2. Slash- Sweet Child O' Mine
3. Dean DeLeo- Silvergun Superman

I never understood the Stairway to Heaven, what was so great about it, but people have different opinions.

A personal favorite of mine is Kirk Hammett's solo from "One".

I actually agree, contrary to most. It's quite nice, and very fitting, but it's too short and not stand-out enough to be considered one of the best of all time, really.

I agree with Prof. Carnaby in Comfortably Numb's solo being one of the greatest. Possibly my favourite. The solo in 'Alive' by Pearl Jam, at least the opening of it, I find to be amazing, too.

Too many but here are some to give a listen to
Fade to Black (Metallica)
Hanger 18 (Megadeth)
The Four Horsemen (Metllica)
Crionics (Slayer)
Afterlife (Avenged Sevenfold)
Call of Ktulu (Metallica)
Angel of Death (Slayer)
Hallowed Be Thy Name (Iron Maiden)
Jump in the Fire (Metallica)
Second Heartbeat (Avenged Sevenfold)
The Trooper (Iron Maiden)
