as for you the things you mentioned about kof, mate, we're talking about sidekicks. benimaru, goro, vanessa, ramon, shingo, maxima, whip, lin, shen woo, duon lon, ozwald are the sidekicks but they didn nothing more than sit there and make the hero look good and get beat up in the process.
chiz and iori only got to do shite cuz the tournament went to hell cuz of Goenitz and Orochi's interference. that don't matter much cuz Andy and Joe could've jumped in and helped Terry out if it was no longer a one-on-one tournament.
