This reminds me of this one youtube video where a person approaches a bunch of Hipsters outside a concert and begins asking them if they have heard of bands that are 100% made up.

The Hipsters, eager to be seen as cool, mostly said they knew of these bands. Bands that did not exist. I think it was Jimmy Kimmel that did it.

Why having not heard of a band is bad? I don't know. And yes, of course it was at Coachella.
