Originally posted by Bashar TegYeah, he did and I pretty much agree Children of Dune was better, although I remember enjoying Dune and the fact it tried to give some of the politics, which I still say blows the nuts of Game of Thrones. Although as you know, both Martin and Herbert took a lot of inspiration from true stories and in Herberts case Arabic prophesies. If you ever watch (you may have done already) Black Gold, Day of the Falcon (loosely based on truth) It's an Antonio Banderas, Emirate film that got undeservedly panned by the critics the final reel will crack you up as Herbert borrowed a lot from the story it's based on for Dune.
the first was hard for me to stomach but children of dune was very well done despite the obviously horrible fx and costumes. james macavoy saved that one imho.
never saw black gold, actually. the first dune series got so many details right but they flopped other details in pointless fashion. like when paul uses the voice on gaius mohiam during the agony-box scene at the beginning. totally killed the tension, which was lacking to begin with. lynch got that scene down perfect.
