I end up stopping a lot in Infinite Jest too, but that's mostly because it's insanely dense at times, is 1000 pages long with another 100 pages of endnotes (which means every time a note appears on the page you have to go all the way to the back to see what it's talking about. It's the only book I've read where I've needed two bookmarks)
I'm finally getting into the meat of the book now though and it's getting a bit more easy going, there hasn't been one of those "four pages without a full stop in sight" chapters for a while
