Getting instant herpes from drinking a cup of tea seems unlikely though right

Herpes aren’t instant- you could of gotten this a week or month, year ago - it’s just a virus in your system

Like that isn't how it works

It's probably just a stress hive, I used to get hives on my body a lot when I was a kid because I was always a big ball of stress

I also occasionally get random weird allergic reactions to things and have random patches of skin swell up, a similar thing once happened when I bit into a cardamom pod

A lot of time stuff like this appears when your immune system is low or your stressed

Cold sore is a low grade strain of herpes- you have herpes! Congrats!
