i mostly go dutch, but i like going on dates in the city, so on a good date i end up paying out the ass anyway.
on a semi-related note, i can't stand constant quibbling over check-splitting and will often throw in way more than i owe in order to avoid the stupid math game, even with friends/coworkers.
Ex co-worker then turned friend of mine, his tactic was to pay for his meal rounding down; not including tax, didn't pay for drinks and tipping was alien to him. When it came time to pay, he quickly throw money on the table and rush out cos he "had to smoke".
So his $23.99 steak, drinks and shrimp appetizer meant he'd leave two crumbled 10's and then bail. His name was "Gus"; we called it "being Gus'd" in our circle of friends.
