The reason I believe it to be a sample is because the Hey Joe bit is 100% a sample of the original recording, so the idea of the song using multiple Hendrix samples is the most Occam's Razor choice, since it's easier to sample than re-record, especially re-recording it to sound identical, aside from being one step higher musically.

I'm just using logic. If the Hey Joe opening isn't a sample, and they re-recorded it to sound almost identical to the real Hey Joe opening, just so they could then sample that and mess with it to make it stop and start and repeat (which it does), then that's a pretty weird thing to do. Impressive, but unlikely.
No, Welshy rightfully recognised the bend to be from Highway Chile, you told him he was wrong and that it was Voodoo Child, and that which you have now admitted your fault for.
