Based of the type profile, they are very useful to society as a whole. Intelligent but also capable of empathy and comfort for those around them without being completely controlled by their emotions. A trait Intp's like myself sorely lack. I am at odds with the idea that they don't focus on facts or logic (which are my go to), however there are times when emotional thought is preferred. Counseling comes to mind.

Better not be that pikey

Good shit, makes me feel better about myself awehuhs sometimes I envy the more rational and less emotional INTP's though tbh

Although that being said I'm still very much so a person who focuses on facts and logic, I just overall swing to the INFP side of the scale on any test I've done

I think it's only normal to be envious of traits you lack. I must admit that I am jealous of the creativity that INFPs are supposed to possess. I always see my knack for drawing as a complete waste as I have very little creativity to go with it.

It's not all sunshine and roses. lol We come off as cold and callous more often than not, and I can see it reasoning for it. It's not that I don't feel things, it's just that I feel it, process it, and forget it very rapidly.

It's one of the reasons I don't take the personality profiles to heart. There are always exceptions and degrees of the typings. I read an article that basically said that we have a personality that is default, but based on our environment/upbringing, we tend to gain secondary traits from other profiles. I believe this to be more accurate from my personal experience.

I tended to be very isolated and withdrawn as a child, but due to money related issues, I was forced to move quite often. After being ridiculed for how shy and closed off I was, I finally reasoned that it would be easier to just be more outgoing to get along. Now, I can be sociable and outgoing when the occasion is called for with very few people knowing that I would rather be home by myself or close knit family/friends. That's still my default personality.

I definitely relate to the creativity side of it, even when I'm not technically proficient in something I can usually still make something interesting out of it.

It is true though that people can get envious of your own lacking traits in other people, I guess it's best to just appreciate what you have since it'll never be perfect for anyone. Still though, I'd like to be able to process things a bit more like that, rather than having to spend ****ing ages mentally processing every little thing that happens to me.

I relate to a lot of that for sure. Not so much the moving part, but the kind of making an effort to become more outgoing without necessarily enjoying it all the time. I'm the kind of introvert who loves being around people, but as soon as I'm home and I'm in my own space I'm instantly just like "well thank **** for that, I'm never going out again" (which is obviously a lie)

The profiles are definitely useful for self-examination but like you say they're not gospel or anything. Fascinating stuff though.

They are great for measuring your strengths/weaknesses and realizing why you react, or don't react, the way you do. They're a great starting point to be sure, but I think the evolution of personality idea is more realistic.

That's awesome. I get very caught up in the technical side of things. I think it's the reason why I think Van Gogh paintings suck as opposed to Rembrandt's pure skill.

I think that your issues stem from the constant inner thought battling the feelings of any given situation. I bet when you have worked it out though, you understand it on a level I couldn't even begin to imagine. lol
