Haha, no problem. I'm sure you've been in many similar discussions. I gotta say...Green Day play around a lot more with their sound than most bands. Brandon Flower of the Killers (perhaps this is blasphemy here for quoting him, but anyway..) said Americans are so obsessed with the likes of Led Zeppelin and Nirvana to recognize new bands. Really..that may have been the most intelligent thing he has ever said.
Zeppelin and Nirvana have a lot of good songs to their credit, but they didn't necessarily have the musical variance. Like pretty much every song you can hear Robert Plant or Kurt Cobain singing in the same voice, with a bunch of guitars and drums and such in the background. Now I do love both...but yeah it's time to move on.
That was probably off-topic and not relevant. But anyway...that is one solid thing about these guys. They are always changing their sound and going in new directions. And I think that freaks some people out because so many other bands tend to just keep the same sound and won't evolve for 2 or 3 albums. Not Green Day. Jesus I'm surprised they still remember how to play some of their older songs, with how much they do change themselves.
